and the sacred stories that followed

I have a friend. His name is Ben. Ben has a podcast. Ben invited me to be a guest. I talked about my life in a cult. The episode dropped. This is a what happened next.

Messages. So many messages. Some from people I knew, some I had only seen at conferences, and many were from strangers altogether. Each message carried a story, and every story traced back to the same place.
The Lord’s Recovery.
Some had long since left. Others were standing on the terrifying precipice of the Great Beyond. Some had healed. Many had not. Some had loved ones still lost and were living with broken hearts. And in each story I read I was reminded, again and again, how much harm this place has inflicted.
And for days all I felt was grief over the many precious lives and heart treasures that have been destroyed there. But now all of these people and experiences have been added to my own, and I am so honored to carry these stories with me.
Stories are sacred. They carry power. They carry truth. They carry us.
Because stories are how we survive. And sometimes, they are also how we begin again.
To those who have reached out, I see you. I am proud of you. Keep going. The struggle is real, but so is the life on the other side of it.
